Neil is a practicing dentist who spent years watching his own front office wrestle with the same pattern: phones ringing through lunch, missed new-patient calls trickling in from voicemail, and a great office manager being asked to do the work of three people.
He started prototyping Tuulip in the gaps between patients — first as a tool for his own practice, then for a handful of colleagues quietly dealing with the same problem. What began as a personal fix became the platform we ship today.
Neil still sees patients. Every product decision at Tuulip gets pressure-tested against the practice he built it for, because the moment the software stops working at the chairside, it stops being worth building.
A problem we saw firsthand.
Walk into any growing dental practice and you'll see the same thing: phones ringing through lunch, hygienists flagging down the office manager between patients, with inbound calls going unanswered during peak and after-hours windows. Every missed call is a real patient (a cracked tooth, a hygiene recall, a new family down the street) deciding to try the next practice on the list.
The tools these practices rely on weren't built for them. Most answering services take a message and hope someone calls back. Legacy PMS vendors are good at charting but terrible at communicating with patients. Office managers burn out chasing recalls, insurance verifications, and cancellation fill, and the dentist ends up fielding scheduling questions from the operatory on a Tuesday afternoon.
We started Tuulip because the technology to fix this finally exists, and nobody was bothering to build it for dental. Generic AI assistants can't triage a cracked tooth or talk sensibly about hygiene recall cadence. Enterprise phone systems cost more than the problem. The gap was obvious, so we built the thing we wished these practices already had.
